Before joining the SEFACIL Foundation, Dr Yann Alix was the General Manager of the Le Havre Port Institute (IPER) at the Normandy Business School IPER. He was previously a senior lecturer in Port and Maritime Management and course tutor for the Supply Chain & Logistics Management master’s program. He also lectured at Université du Québec A Rimouski (Canada) and at the Université de Caen (France) and was research fellow for Maritime Innovation – 2000/2004. He has earned his PhD in 1999 as a joint award by the Université de Caen and Concordia University (Canada). His main focus has been on trade, networks and transport management, with much consultancy work done in this field either in English, French or Spanish. His has travelled to over 45 countries and has crossed the Atlantic twice on container vessels as he believes that field work is a critical element in his area of speciality. His list of publications/conferences includes over 40 papers given in the U.S./Canada, Europe, South America and Africa. His current research interests are in liner shipping lines strategies and ports’ management. Since November 2010, Dr Alix is the General Delegate of the SEFACIL Foundation in Le Havre. SEFACIL aims to create a world pole of excellence on the prospective and the strategic development for the companies working in the port, maritime and logistic sectors.
